Storm Watch organizes possible weather events so you can investigate the ones that matter. Open Plumes to compare model members and run sets at a location, including the spread around the central rain, snow or temperature guidance.
- Storm timing and support
- Examine a possible event, its approximate timing and the model evidence behind it. Confidence describes model agreement; it is not an event probability.
- The range of outcomes
- A wide spread can change how much flexibility you keep in staffing, supply or scheduling. Model members do not all represent equally likely outcomes.
- Follow meaningful changes
- Use My watches to create a personal watch for a supported regional signal or location forecast threshold, then inspect its later activity.
Model evidence
Ask what supports the forecast.
Model Explorer lets you inspect supported weather maps by model, run, region and field. Compare Models aligns available guidance to a matching valid time, helping you compare the same forecast period rather than two different points in the storm.
Point meteograms and forecast soundings add detail for a selected location. Supported numeric maps also let you inspect a published model grid value, with its units, timing and sampling location.
Model availability, map fields, numeric inspection and forecast horizons vary by source and region.
Seasonal readiness
Match the outlook to the decision horizon.
Use the 2-Week and 4-Week Outlooks for regional weather context. The 9-Month Outlook compares regional temperature and precipitation tendencies by month, helping frame discussions about seasonal staffing, materials and readiness.

- Regional outlook signals help identify periods and areas that deserve closer monitoring.
- Monthly tendencies
- Compare regional departures, agreement and split guidance across the coming months.
- A clear change of scale
- Regional tendencies do not predict the weather at one address on a particular day. Move to local forecasts and event evidence as decisions approach.
Date Outlook
Put a future date in context.
For an outdoor event, a scheduled project or a future operating period, start with the typical conditions at a supported US or Canadian location.
- Choose the place and date
- Review local history for the time of year, then the forecast or regional guidance available for that date.
- Separate typical from predicted
- Climate normals and historical hazard frequencies describe the past. Available model guidance describes how the coming period may differ.
- Revisit as the date approaches
- Use the nearer-term site forecast, radar and official warnings as they become relevant. Missing guidance remains unavailable.
